Hockley Angling Club Rules
- All gates to be locked at all times
- Two rods maximum. Bite alarms must be kept at a low volume so as not to disturb other fishermen and the surrounding areas
- No Surface Fishing on any lakes
- All members and guests must have and use their own landing net
- All members and guests must have and use their own unhooking mat when needed
- Barbless hooks ONLY.
- No bent hook rigs etc. Do not get caught on tackle checks
- No spinning or live baits allowed
- All keepnets nets and mats must be Dry before fishing on any of the lakes.
- Keepnets are only allowed between 9.00 am and 6.00 pm daily and must be emptied after 6 hours
- No fish over 4lb to be placed in keepnets at any time.
- Strictly no barbel of any size to be placed in keepnets at any time
- No carp sacks allowed on the fishery. No fish to be removed or added to the club waters.
- All fish are to be put back in the lake in a landing net or a weigh sling
- No fish when photographed to be higher than 2ft or 60cm from the ground
- When temperatures are excessive, a notice will be placed on fishery gates informing members that there is a temporary keepnet ban
- Do not leave any line or hooks lying around – take home for disposal and cut into short lengths
- Do not leave any baited hooks unattended and keep within 10m of your baited rods in the water
- When lakes are busy, please adhere to only fishing in the water directly in front of you to just under halfway across the lake (common sense is needed in some swims)
- If ledger fishing across the lake and someone then fishes across from you, you must reel your line back to your own swim (no arguments)
- Bait bans: no tiger nuts, peanuts, chickpeas, cat/dog meat food in any form, no floating baits of any kind.
- Strictly no litter. Anyone caught leaving litter or throwing rubbish, uneaten food or bait into bushes will lose their membership.
- There are baited rat poison pipes hidden in bushes around the fishery – Please do not touch them
- Toilets must be used. Anyone using a bag or the bushes will lose their membership. Please leave the toilets as you would want to find them
- All members must civilly conduct themselves at all times. Excessive swearing, drinking or anyone caught taking illegal drugs whilst on Club grounds will lose their membership
- Overnight fishing is allowed but must be booked in advance
- Do not speed on fishery access roads – 10mph max. Any inconsiderate driving or high speeds will not be tolerated
- Do not use a dry rag to hold fish. It is essential for the fish’s well-being that all rages etc., that come into contact with fish are wetted first
- Any member who witnesses bad behaviour by anyone must immediately inform Dan. You may phone anytime, day or night, so problems can be dealt with immediately. As in life, all things rely on common sense, so please ask if you are unsure of anything
- No BBQs or opens fires, only gas stoves are allowed.
- Strictly no dogs allowed at the fishery
- Please respect all wildlife. Do not feed the ducks or throw or leave unused bait or food around the fishery. This will only feed vermin, etc.
- Owners may enforce any other rules they deem necessary
Bringing Guests :
- Before fishing, whichever lake you are fishing, you must pay for guests by going to the Ladies/Disabled wc
- Place the guest fee in the envelope provided. Print your name and the amount enclosed on the outside of the envelope and put it in the box (If you do not have the correct guest's fee, a change will be given whilst fishing, or when I next see you). Please complete the sections in the guest book
- All Juniors under 16 must be accompanied by a member over 18
- Only one non-fishing guest per member – there is no charge for this
